<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering shaft connection structure capable of easily positioning a yoke of a steering shaft with a gear shaft and performing confirmation work. <P>SOLUTION: The shaft end 3a of a pinion shaft 3 extending outward from a housing opening 2 of a gear housing 1 is inserted into a gear shaft insertion hole 8 in a yoke 7 provided at an end of a steering shaft. At a predetermined insertion position at which a bolt insertion hole 14 in the yoke 7 is superimposed on an engagement groove 5 in the shaft end 3a of the pinion shaft 3, a pinch bolt is inserted from the bolt insertion hole 14 and inserted through the engagement groove 5, which is provided in the shaft end 3a of the pinion shaft 3, and tightened to tighten the yoke 7, thereby reducing the diameter of the yoke 7 to join the yoke 7 to the pinion shaft 3. When inserting the pinion shaft 3 into the gear shaft insertion hole 8 in the yoke 7, the front end 7a of the yoke 7 and an end 20a of the tubular section 20 of a dust cover 19 disposed between the housing opening 2 and the yoke 7 are brought into contact with each other to restrict the bolt insertion hole 14 to the predetermined insertion position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
