<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system and a projector free from a disadvantage of a high manufacturing cost, a complicated manufacturing process, a large product volume, low illuminance and luminance, insufficient color purity, and degraded image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The illumination system emits first waveband light L1 and has an optical path P. A fluorescent body device 40 includes a first section and a first fluorescent agent. The surface of the first section is coated with the first fluorescent agent. After the first waveband light is received by the first fluorescent agent, the first wave band light is converted to third waveband light L3.
