<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the life of a power source switch last as long as the life of a device without impairing power saving effect. <P>SOLUTION: Historical information of an image forming process executed by an image forming device 10 is stored. Then, an upper limit according to historical information is set for each previously determined term in a control term based on the stored historical information, information indicating the life of the image forming device 10 and information indicating the number of switching times with which the power source switch 19 reaches the end of its life such that the power source switch 19 does not reach the end of its life until the image forming device 10 reaches the end of its life, and in a case where a previously determined stand-by time has elapsed after termination of the image forming process in the control term, when the number of times of switching the power source switch 19 to an off-state in the term that it has elapsed is less than the upper limit set for the term, control is made to switch the power source switch 19 to the off-state, and when the number of switching times reaches the upper limit, control is made to enter a power saving state with the power source switch 19 maintained in an on-state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
