The method involves creating a virtual three-dimensional model of a cable harness (1) by computer program, where the cable harness comprises electric lines and/or signal lines. Folding of the cable harness is simulated by creating the virtual three-dimensional model of the cable harness. Instructions are created for folding and/or unfolding the cable harness based on folding simulation. The virtual three-dimensional model of the cable harness is formed in sections from rigid bodies (11) for complexity reduction. The rigid bodies are connected with each other by a joint.
