<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for determining a correct position of a GPS apparatus from a set of predetermined positions to be selected. <P>SOLUTION: A theoretical distance between each satellite and each position and/or a difference of distances is determined based on a visible GPS satellite 1 and a known position of a predetermined substitutive position. These distances are related to a measurement value of a distance 6 between an antenna 3 of the GPS apparatus 5 and each GPS satellite which is for selecting a correct position from among the predetermined substitutive positions.
