The present invention provides a method for soft handover cell assignment in a trunking communication system and a base station controller. The method includes: receiving, by a Base Station Controller (BSC), pilot environment measurement report domains from one or more terminal UEs in one scheduling period; selecting, by the BSC, a pre-determined number of cells from the cells indicated by all the pilot environment measurement report domains received in the scheduling period; and transmitting, by the BSC, broadcast channel assignment messages carrying the information about the pre-determined number of cells to the one or more UEs in the scheduling period. By means of the present invention, a plurality of UEs in the trunking communication system can be simultaneously assigned with cells for soft handover. |
