PURPOSE: A device and a method for informing of a vehicle accident are provided to enable a rapid initial response by transmitting the location and accident information on a vehicle with an accident using SMS or an audio signal to preset contact information. CONSTITUTION: A device(100) for informing of a vehicle accident comprises a location information sensing unit(110), an acceleration sensing unit(120), an abnormal state transmitting unit(130), and a contact information storing unit(140). The location information sensing unit senses the location information of a vehicle. The acceleration sensing unit senses the acceleration of the vehicle. The abnormal state transmitting unit transmits to inform of the abnormality of the vehicle along with the location information when the sensed acceleration is above a threshold value. The contact information storing unit stores contact information which is designated by a user.
