Polyetheretheretherketone, polyetherdiphenyletherketone, polyetheretheretherketone, and polyetheretherethersulphone comprise structural repeating units of i) X-Ph-(X-Ph)n-X-Ph-CO-Ph where X is independently O or S and n is 1-2, and ii) X-Y-W-Ph-Z where X is independently O or S, Y is phenyl, -Ph-Ph-, or naphthenyl, W is C(O)-, O, or S, and Z is X-Ph-SO2-Ph-, -X-Ph-SO2-Y-SO2-Ph, or C(O)-Ph. In the preferred embodiment, the polyether is produced from 4,4 -difluorobenzophenone, 4,4 -dihydroxydiphenylether, 4,4 -dihydroxybiphenol, and diphenylsulphone. |
