摘要 <PICT:1117760/C1/1> An apparatus for ultrasonically welding a ductile metal to a hand material comprises a rotatable sonotrode and an anvil for co-operating with the sonotrode, the anvil having its contact surface covered with a layer of resilient material and the contact surface being moved at the same speed and in the same direction as the contact surface of the sonotrode. The hard material may be a metal such as molybdenum or tungsten or a non-metal such as glass or other vitreous or ceramic material, the ductile metal may be aluminium or copper and the resilient material may be rubber, cellulose, nylon or a ductile metal. In an embodiment a nickel transducer 1, Fig. 1, energized at 20 KC per sec. is connected to a cylindrical steel transmission member 5 in turn connected to a steel exponential transformer 6 carrying a steel welding disc 7 and the assembly is rotated by a motor driving through a toothed rim. An aluminium foil 13 is sandwiched between the disc 7 and a 1 mm. glass plate 14, the latter bearing on a cylindrical steel anvil 10 rotatably driven by the motor and surrounded by a rubber layer 12. A seam weld is thus formed between the foil and the glass plate. It is stated that an aluminium foil may be welded to a glass plate of 2.5 mm. thickness without employing the resilient material. An aluminium foil may be welded to a 1 mm. molybdenum plate without resilient material being employed but to a 0.25 mm. molybdenum plate with resilient material. The resilient material may be aluminium foil or rubber, the latter being employed in welding aluminium foil to a tungsten plate and copper foil to a glass plate.
