摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an individual identification device or the like that adds microparticles (taggant) having predetermined characteristics to an article, to identify each article with high accuracy on the basis of the distribution position thereof. <P>SOLUTION: On a base material 10 of each of articles 1, fine materials 12 having optical reflection characteristics different from the base material, different color, and characteristic design and shape are randomly arranged. The articles are optically read by a scanner or the like to be subjected to predetermined image processing. A feature point of the fine material and a feature quantity on color information in the feature point are extracted, and stored in a storage part as reference feature quantity data. The article to be identified is read by the same way as above read operation and subjected to the same image processing to extract object feature quantity data of the fine material.
