<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode active material which allows the improvement of the rate characteristic, and enables the charge and discharge with a large current, and a method of manufacturing the material. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode active material comprises secondary particles, each consisting of a group of primary particles of an active material selected from a lithium layer compound and an olivine compound. The primary particles form a monocrystalline.
