A system comprises a coke dehydrogenation unit for reacting coke with elemental sulphur to produce carbon and hydrogen sulphide; a COS generator for generating carbonyl sulphide (COS) and water from the hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide; a sulphur combustor for combusting sulphur vapour and oxygen to produce heat and sulphur dioxide; a sulphur dioxide reduction reactor that reduces the sulphur dioxide from the combustor in the presence of the carbonyl sulphide (COS) to provide sulphur vapour, carbon dioxide and heat; and a heat-recovery and sulphur condensation unit for receiving the water from the COS generator and for receiving the sulphur vapour, the carbon dioxide and the heat from the reduction reactor and for providing recycled sulphur to the sulphur combustor, carbon dioxide to the COS generator, elemental sulphur to the coke dehydrogenation unit and steam. |
