A tool post or tool clamping device comprises a body portion 1 with clamping screws 6 and abutment elements 7 which are adjustable towards and away from the clamping screws by means of inclined faces 17 at their lower ends co-operating with inclined faces 20 on a slidable actuating pin 10. An adjusting screw 12, Fig. 3, facilitates movement of the support elements 7, whereby the screw head 14 co-operates with a slot 15 in the actuating pin 10 to effect positive adjusting and looking of the actuating pin prior to tightening the clamping screws to hold the cutting tool. In an alternative embodiment, the actuating pin is provided with a rack which is actuated by a pinion rotatably mounted in the tool holder body. |
