<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flux for electroslag overlaying, which is excellent in stability of welding even when the amount of heat input upon welding is small, and with which a satisfactory bead shape and bead appearance can be obtained, in electroslag overlaying using a hoop made of an Ni-base alloy. <P>SOLUTION: The flux 1 for electroslag overlaying is used when electroslag overlaying is performed using a hoop made of an Ni-base alloy. The flux 1 is a sintered flux obtained by sintering while a fused flux composed of 5 to 20 mass% CaF<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, 10 to 20 mass% Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, 40 to 60 mass% SiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>and 15 to 30 mass% CaO is mixed by 3 to 10 mass% in a flux total mass ratio as a part of the raw material of the sintered flux.
