Personal protective equipment 1, comprising a garment 5 covering at least the bust of a user, a lining 25 covering a part of an inner surface of the garment and an airbag system comprising an inflatable chamber or airbag 45. The lining is removable or detachable from the garment via an attaching system 35 which may optionally be a zip or zipper. In use the inflatable chamber 46b, 47 passes from the inactive or deflated state to the active inflated state. The garment may be a jacket or vest and may include an inflatable collar and the garment or lining may be deformable, including elastic material to allow the inflatable chamber to expand when deployed. The garment or lining may have a portion including a slit which opens to allow the inflatable bag to expand. |
