The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a seal ring mounting method for a turbocharger, the method being capable of mounting a seal ring so that the seal ring is less likely to be affected by other parts; and a turbocharger provided with the seal ring. An annular protrusion (12j) for restricting the position of a seal ring (16) in the radial direction is provided at the front end (12h) of the inner peripheral wall (12b) of a turbine housing (12), and the seal ring (16) is mounted between a side surface (36c) of a nozzle plate (36) and a first stepped section (12k) at the front end (12h) of the inner peripheral wall (12b) so that the outer periphery of the seal ring (16) is restrained by the annular protrusion (12j).
