摘要 1,124,448. Automatic exchange systems. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. 15 Sept., 1966 [15 Sept., 1965], No. 41360/66. Heading H4K. Characters received in PCM links SC1-SC12 are set up on shift registers SR1-SR288 being demultiplexed from the 24 time slots of each link, characters for transmission over the PCM links being set up on shift registers OSR1- OSR288 to be read out in the appropriate link time slots, connection between any receiving register SR and any transmitting register OSR being made by way of a three-stage non-blocking multiplex highway switching network. The first and third stages of the network comprise 12 x 2 cross-point matrices for the outlets and inlets of each link-register set. The centre stage comprises two 12 x 12 crosspoint matrices and should one of these matrices fail the remaining one will give full access but blocking will occur. A common control processor, clock circuits, scanner and channel stage register, and stores with associated network access decoders, Figs. 4 and 5, (not shown), control and effect connections across the network. The link circuits 1 to 11 provide connections to other exchanges. The link 12 serves 12 local terminals and 12 circuits such as registers; the channels of link 12 being connectible to any of the terminals or circuits over a multiplex switch. Changes in the on-hook, off-hook condition of channels, evidenced by the supervisory bit, are detected by the scanner which, on a calling condition, instructs the processor to seize a register. The processor provides a free time slot and by way of the store-decoder complex connects the stores SR, OSR of the calling channel with the stores OSR, SR, respectively, of the channel in link 12 serving the register. The register writes a dial tone character in its store SR which in the next recurrence of the time slot chosen for the connection is transferred bit by bit to the store OSR of the calling channel in the next occurring time slot of which the character is read out to the calling channel. The dial tone character is read out repeatedly until a digit is received the character representing which is moved from store to store and read out to the register. Given the dialled requirements the register instructs the processor which disconnects the dialling paths over the network and replaces them with ringing connections, a suitable ringing circuit being connected over the link 12. Connections between calling and called channels are set up on reply.
