Disclosed is a rostering system for setting staff levels in a customer service business. The system is configured such that a computer system (1) receives or records data (2) identifying at least the approximate number of customer visitors to the business (3) for a number of periods of time. The computer system (1) also receives or records data indicative of sales achieved for each period of time (7) and the number of staff working at the business for each period of time (6). The computer system (1) processes all of the above data (4, 6, 7) to determine the relative sales success of the business (3) based on the ratio of customer visitors to staff for each period of time. Using the determinations at d) above, the computer system (1) predicts the number of staff that should be rostered for optimal sales success for each period of time. The computer system (1) then reports the above predictions.
