A signal detection device using improved Fano algorithm in a multi-antenna system and a method thereof are provided to overcome performance deterioration caused by inter-antenna interference, thereby improving performance as effectively reducing calculation complexity. A candidate symbol string selector(211) detects the predetermined number of candidate symbol strings by using improved Fano algorithm as expanding a tree structure according to the predetermined number of branches. An optimal symbol string selector(213) calculates a minimum joint maximum approximation metric by using the selected candidate symbol strings, and selects one symbol string having the minimum joint maximum approximation metric. |
