<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication type navigation system capable of dispersion of communication load, simplification of system configuration and reducing an electromagnetic noise. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A client car navigation system CN requests a server instrument SV located within its own local wireless communication coverage and having a base station device BS located in a long-distance wireless communication coverage to obtain map information corresponding to own position information from the base station device BS via local wireless communication, receives the map information obtained in response to the request via the local wireless communication from the server instrument SV, and carries out navigation processing by means of the map information.
