[Also in Division G2] In a photo-electric direction finder employing a detector 8 (which may be associated with an electronic scanning system or may have a lateral photo-voltaic characteristic) the angular deviation of the light from axis 11 is magnified by a glass block 3 having a frusto-conical outer surface 5 coated with a reflecting layer 10 and a conical recess 9. Surface 12 substantially coincides with the focal plane of lens 2 and a reflecting annulus 4 has a radius of curvature much less, e.g. one hundredth, of the focal length of lens 2. Prisms may be added between lens 2 and block 3 to reduce the size of the apparatus.
