<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a sealing state between a developer carrier and a housing for an image forming unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming unit includes: the housing 34; the developer carrier freely rotatably disposed in the housing 34, holding developer thereon, and used to develop a latent image formed on the image carrier; and a sealing member disposed in the axial direction of the developer carrier and used to prevent developer from leaking from a gap between the developer carrier and housing 34. A portion of the sealing member, which portion is in contact with the developer carrier, is formed from an elastic body, on account of which the developer carrier is pressed by its resiliency. Since the developer carrier and sealing member are in firm contact with each other, the sealing state between the developer carrier and the housing 34 for the image forming unit can be enhanced.
