The engine has a pre-injection and vaporization chamber (8) connected to a compression chamber (4) by a connection channel (1). The connection channel has a separation device for opening and closing the channel. An injector (9) injects fuel at a defined pressure into the vaporization chamber containing hot exhaust gases, when the channel is closed during a previous cycle and until the end of compression of a current cycle, so as to support gasification of sprayed liquid fuels. Detonating combustion in the vaporization chamber is realized after opening of the channel. The separation device is a dispensing valve or a dispensing piston (2).
