Disclosed are a portable terminal capable of docking with an external device and a method for controlling same. The portable terminal capable of docking with the external device comprises: a second sub-device corresponding to a first sub-device contained in the external device; and a control unit which delivers, to the first sub-device, a predetermined control command generated in the portable terminal when the portable terminal is connected to the external device, and delivers, to the second sub-device, the predetermined control command when the connection between the portable terminal and the external device is released.
