PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air damper which keeps the slidability without causing the entanglement of a string shape member, and is formed to be compact. SOLUTION: The air damper 10 comprises: a cylinder 20; a piston 30 to move in the cylinder 20; a cap 40 to be mounted on the tip end portion of the cylinder 20; a coil spring 60 for elastically energizing the piston 30; and a string shape member 70 to be caught on the piston 30. The cap 40 comprises: a fitting cylindrical portion 41; a tapered cylindrical portion 50 which serves as the end face of the fitting cylindrical portion 41, and projects toward the inside of the cylinder 20 by denting in a tapered shape, and forms an exit port 51 for the string shape member 70 at its tip end; and a hook portion 55 which axially extends from one portion of the peripheral edge of the exit port 51 toward the inside of the cylinder 20, and is bent at its tip end portion 57. One end portion of the string shape member 70 is caught on the hook portion 55, and the intermediate portion of the string shape member 70 is led to the outside of the cylinder 20 through the exit port 51.
