<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regenerable energy storage system that can store and supply regenerable energy with high efficiency while taking into consideration variations in the amount of regenerable energy. <P>SOLUTION: A regenerable energy storage system stores regenerable energy. The regenerable energy storage system includes: a power generator 1 that converts regenerable energy into electrical energy; a hydrogen production unit 2 consisting of a plurality of hydrogen production unit 2 that produce hydrogen gas using this electrical energy; a buffer tank 3 that increases the purity of the hydrogen gas produced by the hydrogen production unit; a hydrogenation unit 4 that adds the hydrogen gas to an unsaturated hydrocarbon; a switch 7 that switches the connection constitution of the hydrogen production units; and a controller 8 that controls the switch.
