The method involves curing primary region (26,28,30,32) of a crank pin (14) of the crankshaft (10) by beam hardening process. The secondary region (22,24) of the crank pin is hardened inductively or by a thermo-chemical process or by a mechanical bonding process. The secondary region of the crank pin is located at bearing point (16) of the crankshaft. The crankshaft is provided with chain wheel (12).
