The injection device (4) has a high pressure pump (2), a high-pressure accumulator (3) and a fuel injector which are connected hydraulically. The amount of fuel sprayed by the fuel injector into the valve (5) is determined. The valve is integrated into the fuel high-pressure accumulator. The valve is provided with a solenoid actuator, a magnetostrictive actuator, or a piezoelectric actuator. An independent claim is included for internal combustion engine.
