The card has a security code on a face (14) of the card, where the security code is associated with a bank account. An electronic display (16) is arranged for displaying the security code. An electronic circuit includes a control circuit (18), an internal timer (20), and a memory (22), where the electronic circuit is arranged to vary the security code over time. The electronic circuit varies the security code by successively taking the codes from a predetermined list of codes recorded in the electronic circuit, where the security code is a three digit number of card verification value (CVV). An independent claim is also included for a method for performing secure online transactions using a bank card associated with a bank account.
