发明名称 THE MANUFACTURE OF FIBRES, FILAMENTS AND FILMS FROM MOLTEN MATERIAL
摘要 1,210,920. Continuous casting-machines. MONSANTO CO. 20 Nov., 1967 [22 Nov., 1966], No. 52697/67. Heading B3F. In the streaming or spinning of fibres, filaments or films through an orifice 16 of a crucible 14, the operating parameters affecting the aerodynamic drag on the filament as it passes through a chamber 12 are controlled so that any drag-sustained deviations are prevented from migrating upstream towards the still liquid part of the filament. The crucible 14 is induction heated by coils 32 and is pressurized to force molten material, e.g. lead/tin alloy, pure tin, stainless steel, boron and aluminium, or an alumina-calcia mixture, out of the orifice 16, which may be formed in a jewel material set in the crucible. The chamber 12 may have a gas, e.g. helium, oxygen, or a mixture thereof, or a helium/propane mixture, circulated therein in either direction through ports 40, or the gas may be stagnant. The operating parameters are controlled to maintain the velocity of propagation of the-drag-sustained deviations less than the velocity of the filament. Theoretical considerations and formulµ relating to the effects of varying the operating parameters are included in the Specification. A plurality of orifices 16 may be provided in the jewel material. Specifications 1,197,972 and 1,153,577 are referred to.
