<p>PURPOSE: A composition containing an Amomum xanthoides extract is provided to effectively suppress TNF-alpha, iNOS, INF-gamma, TGF-beta, PDGF, CTGF, and alpha-SMA expression, and to prevent or treat liver fibrosis or liver cirrhosis. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating liver fibrosis or liver cirrhosis contains an Amomum xanthoides extract as an active ingredient. The extract is a hot water extract or a low carbon number alcohol. The low carbon number alcohol is methyl alcohol. A method for preparing the extract comprises: a step of adding low carbon number alcohol, water, or a mixture thereof to Amomum xanthoides, and collecting supernatant; a step of adding a non-polar solvent to the supernatant, and isolating into a water insoluble layer and a water soluble layer; a step of filtering and centrifuging the water soluble layer; and a step of concentrating and freeze-drying the filtered liquid.</p> |
