1,218,749. Analytical tape. XEROX CORP. 15 Dec., 1967 [15 Dec., 1966], No. 22939/70. Divided out of 1,218,745. Heading B1X. An analytical tape bears a plurality of discrete porous reagent-containing site 44, the tape when porous comprising integrally formed reagent containing sites 44 &c. or when non- porous bearing sites in the form of discs bonded to the upper surface. The discs may be multilayered, each layer performing a separate chemical function. The layers may include a filter or dialysis layer and a dye-containing layer. Adjacent sites may be chemically different and several such sites may form a "set". The sites can also be located transverse of the tape. Apertures can be positioned between adjacent sites or "sets" of sites so that in use, upon correct indexing, access is gained to the sites of lower tapes. The tapes can store coded information 54 and may be of paper, cellulose acetate or polyethylene terephthalate and are preferably transparent. The reagents can be chemisorbed onto the tape to-prevent "ringing" and may be surrounded by a hydrophobic barrier.
