An opening and closing apparatus for a sliding window is provided to control the opening range of a window and to ventilate indoors without any danger of an accidental fall by keeping and fixing a window at plural open positions. An opening and closing apparatus for a sliding window includes a guide base(5) mounted to an open frame(1), a slider(7) guided to be slidable in the guide base, a main link bar connected to the guide base and a window, an auxiliary link bar connected to the slider and a closed end of the window, a restraint link bar connected to the slider and the middle of the main link bar, and a locking device preventing the movement of the slider to fix the window at the plural open positions, wherein the locking device includes a screw shaft(23) fixed to the slider to reciprocate in the guide base, a locking block(24) having a screw thread(29) to be suspended/separated on/from the screw shaft, a locking spring(25) moving and pressurizing the locking block in the direction of the screw shaft, and an unlocking lever(26) installed to the outside of the guide base and separating the locking block from the screw shaft against the pressure force of the locking spring. |
