A dual mode power transmission apparatus for a hybrid electric vehicle is provided to improve power transmission efficiency, ensuring a wide speed range and reducing motor and battery capacity. A dual mode power transmission apparatus for a hybrid electric vehicle comprises two motors(110,120), three planetary gears(210,220,230) and two clutches. The first motor(110) is connected to a sun gear(231) of the third planetary gear(230), an engine(400) is connected to a ring gear(213) of the first planetary gear(210) and simultaneously the ring gear(213) is connected to a sun gear(221) of the second planetary gear(220). The second motor(120) is connected to a sun gear(211) of the first planetary gear(210) and simultaneously the sun gear(211) is connected to one side of a ring gear(233) of the third planetary gear(230) through the first clutch. The second clutch is connected to the other side of the ring gear(233). |
