PURPOSE: A controlling device and a method for an electronic parking brake of a large commercial vehicle is provided to minimize the fatigue of a driver by operating a parking brake with the simple operation of a parking switch without operating an existing lever. CONSTITUTION: A controlling device and a method for an electronic parking brake of a large commercial vehicle comprises a wheel speed sensor(13), a parking switch(10), a parking electronic control unit(11), an ABS(Anti-lock Brake System) ECU(Electronic Control Unit)(12), first and second solenoid valves(15,16), a brake actuator(17). The wheel speed sensor senses the speed of a wheel. The parking switch is controlled by the operation of a driver and activates or deactivates a parking brake by on/off signals. The parking electronic control unit controls parking braking power through the signal input of the parking switch. The ABS ECU is interlocked with the parking electronic control unit and is capable of two-way transmission and reception with the parking electronic control unit. The first and the second solenoid valve receive the control signal of the parking electronic control unit in order to open or close the flow of compressed air stored in an air tank(14). The brake actuator operates the parking brake by using a spring and pneumatic pressure which is delivered through the first and the second solenoid valve. |
