To provide an electronic component comprising a common mode choke coil having a high impedance, and a method for manufacturing the electronic component. A magnetic substrate (12a) has a shape in which ridges connecting primary surfaces (S1, S2) are cut out by cutout sections (Ca-Cd). A laminated body (14) has corners (C1-C4) overlapping the cutout sections (Ca-Cd). A coil (L1) includes lead sections (21a, 21b, 22a-22c) connected to both ends of a coil section (20) and brought out to the corners (C1, C2). A coil (L2) forms a common mode choke coil together with the coil (L1) and includes lead sections (26, 27a-27d) connected to both ends of a coil section (25) and brought out to the corners (C3, C4). Connection parts (16a-16d) connect external electrodes (15a-15d) and the leads (21b, 22c, 26, 27d) to each other, and are provided to the cutout sections (Ca-Cd). |
