The present invention relates to a wireless communication system, and more particularly, to a method and apparatus for finding a neighbor. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for setting an Internet protocol (IP) by a station (STA) of a wireless communication network comprises: a step of receiving network prefix information; a step of setting an IP address on the basis of the network prefix information; and a step of transmitting an initial generic advertisement service (GAS) request frame including the set IP address information to an access point (AP). According to the present invention, a novel method of setting an IP is proposed which can be performed independently of, or prior to the completion of, an initial link set-up process.
