PURPOSE: A composition and a health functional food containing a Gleditsiae Semen extract are provided to suppress the growth of renal cancer cells and to effectively treat renal cancer. CONSTITUTION: A composition for treating renal cancer contains an organic solvent extract of Gleditsiae Semen as an active ingredient. The organic solvent is ethanol. The extract is prepared by extracting at 50 deg. C. for 24 hours, and dried and concentrated at 45 deg. C. The composition further contains a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluents.
