PURPOSE: A silicate glass composition is provided to be suitable for manufacturing glass products for chemical strengthening and to have a high alkali and aluminum content by containing specific glass components at an optimal ratio. CONSTITUTION: A glass composition comprises 64.5-73 mol% of SiO2, 6.5-11.5 mol% of Al2O3, 0-2 mol% of B2O3, 13-19 mol% of Na2O, 0.3-1.2 mol% of K2O, 3.5-7.2 mol% of MgO, 0.05-2.5 mol% of ZnO, 0.05-1 mol% of TiO2, 0-0.6 mol% of Y2O3, 0-0.4 mol% of Ga2O3, 0-1.2 mol% of GeO2 and at least one component selected from SnO, Sb2O3, Cl and SO3. Each content of SnO2, Sb2O3, Cl and SO3 is 0-0.15 mol%, 0-0.1 mol%, 0-0.5 mol% and 0-0.3 mol%, respectively. The glass manufactured with the glass composition has 80-100x10^-7/deg.C of the expansion coefficient at 20-400deg.C., 2.5g/cm^3 or less of the density, excess 540deg.C of the strain point, and 1720deg.C or less of the melting point. |
