<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, a program and a device for photographic image processing, which can easily process photographic image data, photographed by a digital camera, at a high speed to effectively suppress grainy noise in a state wherein a contour is never out of focus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The photographic image processing method for suppressing grainy noise includes: a density component image extraction step of extracting density component image data from the photographic image data photographed by the digital camera; a smoothing processing step of smoothing the density component image data with a running average filter having a predetermined size to compute smoothed image data; a difference image data generation step of computing the difference between the density component image data and smoothed image data to obtain difference image data: and a correlation coefficient calculation step of dividing the density component image data and difference image data into pixel blocks of predetermined size and calculating correlation coefficients of image density each between corresponding pixel blocks.
