<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for assisting confirmation of a required Doppler signal. <P>SOLUTION: If the frequency of the required Doppler signal (component close to DC) exceeds a modulation frequency f<SB POS="POST">m</SB>, the required Doppler signal and an unwanted wave component (primary component or -1 order component) are superimposed on each other, which may cause a user to confuse these. To solve the problem, when a condition fd≥f<SB POS="POST">m</SB>(or fd>f<SB POS="POST">m)</SB>is met by comparing the maximum Doppler shift amount fd to be confirmed by utilizing a normal continuous wave with the modulation frequency f<SB POS="POST">m</SB>in an FMCW (frequency-modulated continuous-wave), it is determined that a Doppler signal at a target position measured in the FMCW and the unwanted wave component may be superimposed on each other.
