<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize frequency resource effectively regardless of a situation where multiple mobile terminals having different capabilities exist mixedly. <P>SOLUTION: A communication system in which a mobile terminal (10) and a base station device (20) communicate using a basic carrier and an extension carrier assigned in addition to the basic carrier, includes a setting unit (310) which sets, in the extension carrier, a subframe of existing carrier type receivable by multiple mobile terminals of different capabilities, respectively, and a subframe of additional carrier type receivable by some of the multiple mobile terminals, and a transmission unit (203) which transmits the basic carrier and the extension carrier to the mobile terminal.
