The present invention relates to a method for operating an optical relay system for an elevator. The optical relay system of the present invention comprises: an analog optical relay module for transceiving mobile communication signals over a communication network; a media server; a content processing module for transceiving content signals; a first muxing/demuxing processing unit for muxing the mobile communication signals and content signals as one optical signal; a passive element optical distributor for distributing the muxed optical signal to one or more units; a second muxing/demuxing processing unit for receiving the one or more distributed optical signals and demuxing same as the mobile communication signals and content signals; and a display device, located in the elevator, for displaying the demuxed content signals, wherein the display device comprises a patch antenna located in a bezel region, and the patch antenna transmits the demuxed mobile communication signals to a communication terminal.
