<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell using zinc powder that is inexpensive to manufacture and achieves a desirable operation time when used in a device. <P>SOLUTION: Disclosed is an electrochemical cell using a blended zinc powder. The blended zinc powder includes a selected portion of a first zinc powder and a selected portion of a second zinc powder. In a preferred embodiment, the first and second powders are divided into groups based on ranges of their particle size distribution. Particle characteristics such as roughness and elongation are used to select groups of the two kinds of powders that are combined to produce the blended zinc powder. The blended zinc powder enables battery manufacturers to maximize cell operation time while minimizing zinc cost. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
