摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a TN mode liquid crystal display device which enhances brightness of a screen and clearness of an image and has a practically sufficient visual field angle compensation effect. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device has at least a TN mode liquid crystal cell (10) having at least a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal layer, a visual side polarizer and a backlight side polarizer (12 and 14) on both sides of the TN mode liquid crystal cell (10), and retardation films (16 and 18) between at least one of the visual side polarizer and the backlight side polarizer and the TN mode liquid crystal cell. The retardation film has a total haze value of 1.0% or less, an internal haze value of 0.50% or less, and an in-plane axis variation of 1.0&deg; or less.
