The combined heat and power device has a heating boiler (1) with a combustion chamber (2) for combustion of a fuel, and a hot gas engine (3) with a heater head (4). The heater head is formed with a wall (5) of the combustion chamber over a thermal connection. Surfaces (4.1,5.1) of the heater head and the wall are formed in an active region over a contact surface (6). The contact surface is variably formed by adjustment of the surfaces to one another between a minimum and a maximum size.
