<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner with improved convenience. <P>SOLUTION: This air conditioner 100 to be placed on a placing surface 70 when in use, includes: a body case 10 including bodies cases 11, 12; an inlet 1; an outlet 7 positioned opposite the body case 11 across the inside of the body case 10; a sirocco fan 60 included in the body case 10; a placing state detecting section 40 for detecting a first placing state in which the body case 10 is placed on the placing surface 70 so that the body case 11 and the placing surface 70 are opposed to each other, and a second placing state in which the body case 10 is placed on the placing surface 70 so that the body case 12 and the placing surface 70 are opposed to each other; and a control section 50.
