PURPOSE: A mandrel drum is provided to reduce the amount of a hot rolled steel plate cut in a post process by reducing the length of the hot rolled steel plate inserted into the mandrel drum as a plurality of guide projections guides the bending angle of the hot rolled steel plate. CONSTITUTION: A mandrel drum comprises a drum shell(110) and a shaft(120). The drum shell is shaped into a hollow pipe so that a steel plate is wound around the drum shell. An end portion of the steel plate is led into a slot(111). The shaft is joined to the central part of the drum shell in a longitudinal direction so that the drum shell is mounted on the shaft to be rotatable. A plurality of guide projections(113) guides the bending angle of the hot rolled steel plate that becomes inserted into the slot. The plurality of guide projections is projected towards the slot in the area adjacent to the slot on the inner peripheral surface of the drum shell.
