<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heating apparatus that simultaneously performs a boiling operation and a heat recovery operation when performing the heat recovery operation to increase system efficiency and energy saving performance. <P>SOLUTION: The water heating apparatus includes: a hot water storage tank 1; a first heating means 2 for heating water stored in the hot water storage tank 1; a heat source 3 provided outside the hot water storage tank 1 and having a temperature lower than the heating temperature of the first heating means 2; a second heating means 4 for heating the water stored in the hot water storage tank 1 by heat from the heat source 3; and a control means 18.
