A liquid crystal display device and a control method of the same are provided to display colors of images and to improve luminance of the images without using a color filter. A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel(300). A light source unit(200) emits red light, green light, and blue light to the liquid crystal display panel. A light source driving unit(120) drives the light source unit, and a signal control unit(110) controls a liquid crystal display panel to display images corresponding to external image data. The signal control unit processes the image data and outputs the processed image data. The light source driving unit analyzes the image data of the signal control unit, produces color values and luminance values corresponding to the image data, and drives the light source unit on the basis of the color values and luminance values. |
